Post-Publication Policies
Buca Seyfi Demirsoy Training and Research Hospital recognizes that academic dialogue does not end at the moment of publication. Post-publication discussion, critique, and feedback play an essential role in maintaining the accuracy, reliability, and integrity of the scientific record. Post-publication contributions help ensure that the academic literature remains current and trustworthy.
Letters to the Editor and Commentaries
Forbes Journal of Medicine encourages authors, readers, and researchers to submit letters to the editor or commentary pieces regarding published articles. Such submissions must:
• Explicitly reference the relevant article (title, authors, DOI, etc.),
• Be constructive, evidence-based, and scholarly in tone,
• Refrain from personal accusations, unfounded claims, or inflammatory language.
Appropriate letters are shared with the original author(s) for a response. Both the letter and the author’s reply may be published after editorial evaluation and will be permanently linked to the original article.
Corrections and Clarifications
If an error is identified in a published work:
• A correction will be issued when the error does not compromise the scientific integrity of the article.
• A clarification note may be provided when needed to address ambiguity for readers.
In both cases, corrections and clarifications are directly linked to the original article to maintain transparency.
Expression of Concern
If serious concerns arise regarding data integrity, ethical approval, or research validity, an investigation is initiated following COPE guidelines. While the investigation is ongoing, an Expression of Concern may be published to inform readers.
During this process, authors are asked to provide explanations and supporting documentation; collaboration with the author’s affiliated institution(s) may also be required.
Retraction
A retraction may be issued when serious ethical violations or significant scientific errors are ed:
• A preliminary assessment is conducted, including obtaining the authors’ response.
• The case is presented to the Editorial Board for decision.
• A retraction notice is published, clearly stating the reasons for retraction.
Retracted articles remain accessible in the digital archive for the sake of transparency, but they are clearly marked as retracted.
